2022 Lusitano x WB by world famous TRAK Hirtentanz (Axis TSF x Kostolany) out an imported APSL mare.
Horchata (Cha-cha) is truly one of the nicest youngsters I’ve ever ridden. Her kind, curious, eager-to-please attitude mean she adapts to new situations and new riders with ease, showing a confidence well beyond her years. Her elegant gaits are balanced and easily adjustable, and under saddle she is light, forward and responsive without feeling ‘hot’ or spooky.
Cha-cha comes from my own breeding program, Landmark Iberians, where I strive to produce horses who possess the athleticism, trainability and enthusiasm for work needed to become both strong competitors
as well as treasured riding partners. Cha-cha exemplifies all of these qualities— a quiet, willing nature makes her suitable for an AA or YR, but she has plenty of talent for a pro to develop and enjoy.
At 3.5yo she is 15.3/16h, with a nice full barrel that takes up the leg & gives the rider a very balanced place to sit. We expect her to continue to grow and fill out over the next two years, likely maturing 16.1/16.2.
I am not a “mare person” myself and am skeptical of those countless ads promising a “not mareish mare”, but truly Cha-cha is as “not mareish” as they come—no ear pinning, girthiness, or bossy attitude. In my lifetime with horses, she is one of ONLY two mares who I have immediately enjoyed and clicked with from day one. She is ready to go straight from the paddock, no prep, saddle up and off to work she goes!
I searched Portugal (and the rest of Europe) for a quality Luso x WB prospect, but always came up empty handed or outbid, so to have one available in the US is a rarity—and with such a great start under saddle makes Cha-cha a dream come true! Located in Ocala (15 min from WEC). Cha-cha is healthy with no vices, no maintenance, clean legs, and great feet.
