Coming from a long line of champions on both sides of her pedigree, Matisse has shown herself to be extremely athletic and intelligent, with a strong drive to succeed and progress in her training. Mattie is forward, sensitive, and a very quick learner. Once she is taught something new, she wants nothing more than to perfect it. Mattie truly enjoys hard work that engages her brain; monotonous rides are not her cup of tea.
Mattie’s gaits leave nothing to be desired, and the credit for that goes to her remarkable hind end and swinging back. At her foal inspection with the KWPN, the jury commented “incredible use of back” and awarded her the score of 86/84, leading her to the title of top Dressage foal in all of North America for the 2017 tour. As a 3yo in the midst of the pandemic, she was bred to L Primo DG and had a lovely filly before beginning her career under saddle. She spent some time with a cowboy learning how to be a solid citizen before moving to focus on dressage basics.
Mattie does not have any behavioral issues or vices, and is currently working on maintaining balance in her self carriage within the collecting and medium gaits. She is developing her lateral work and learning to manage her power – working on 1st/2nd Level movements and basics for changes, which she has a natural aptitude for.
Mattie’s dam, Beatrice VDL, unfortunately suffered an injury that kept her from sport but instead repeatedly produced winning foals who have grown into talented competitors. Beatrice’s sire Prestige VDL competed successfully in Grand Prix and is known for passing on his powerful gaits and impressive temperament. Beatrice’s mother L’Actrice has produced many top sport horses, and notably is the grand dam of stallion Zenon VDL. L’Actrice VDL was sired by Lorentin I, CDI winner at the Grand Prix level and sire of 9 licensed stallions.
Hennessy is a combination of DeNiro, Jazz, and Ulft, bringing with his bloodlines balance, suppleness and articulation that brings the hind leg deeply underneath.
Matisse is offered for sale to a competitive home capable of taking her to the height of her ability.
