Norton HW has the same sire as Valegro, the famous Negro! Sire of Olympic, World Equestrian Games, and World Cup winner Valegro, Negro has certainly confirmed his value as a sire of top dressage talent. Negro offspring have proven time and again that they have the talent for the FEI work and he is currently ranked 8th on the WBFSH Dressage Sire Rankings. An exceptional canter, active hindleg, and talent for collection are consistent across his offspring. Due to the exceptional quality of his offspring, Negro has been awarded the coveted Preferant status by the KWPN and was the 2017 KWPN Stallion of the Year.

Negro’s sire Ferro has been one of the most successful international dressage stallions in history, capturing the Team Silver at the World Equestrian Games, European Championships, and Olympics. Negro’s dam, the Keur mare Fewrie, is by the successful international dressage stallion Variant.

Negro won his KWPN Stallion Show competitions and was the highest placed Dutch horse at the 2001 FEI Young Horse Championships. By age 7 he was winning at Prix St. Georges and had a remarkable talent for all the Grand Prix work. Olympic rider Anne Van Olst calls him ‘the best horse I ever rode.’

Negro is: KWPN Stallion of the Year 2017

Off course we all know Valegro, may be the best Grand Prix horse ever. Besides him the horses Exquis Spargo†, Exquis Taikoen, Slegro, Numberto, Nintendo, Netto, Tigro, Taison, Validus, Vainqueur, Tigro, Tegro, Unico G, Vorst, Amazing, Alfranco, Zoë, Bufranco, Bailey, Willem-Alexander all competed Grand Prix. Negro offspring is highly appreciated be-cause of there great character, workability, balance, rideabelity and off course the strong use of the hindlegg and there great potential for collection. Negro’s children make a stir everywhere, with champions, approved stallions and daughters everywhere in the World. Also through the powerful and positive influences of his genetics, he is becoming increasingly valued as a maternal sire.

Norton HW’s dam sire is Johnson. Ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud, Glock’s Johnson TN has risen to be one of world’s best combinations in dressage.

The son of Jazz is placed second on the FEI World Ranking, won the golden team medal and individual bronze at the European Championships in Aachen. “His outstanding attitude has made the greatest difference at the highest level. Even if he is almost unable to do something, Johnson will do it for you anyhow”, rider Hans Peter Minderhoud says about his number one horse. “When Johnson enters the ring, all people will sit up. He truly is a king!”

After the phenomenal performances of Johnson in Aachen last year, you could almost forget the bronze team medal at the World Equestrian Games in Caen. And of course the victories in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spécial in Treffen, the second placings in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle in Rotterdam, et cetera.

As a sire, Johnson seems to walk in the footsteps of his sire Jazz and grandsire Flemmingh. Jazz himself performed at Grand Prix level and for many years has been among world’s best dressage sires on the WBFSH Sire Ranking. Through offspring like Krack C and Lingh, also Flemmingh has left its mark on today’s breeding of dressage horses. The offspring of Johnson make great impressions on all levels as well. The approved stallion Meggle’s Boston (Hendrik Lochthowe) already performs at Grand Prix level, just like Hexagon’s Double Dutch, Ben Johnson and Boston STH.

About – Johnson was one of the most successful grand prix stallions of his time. Ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud, who said of his number one horse “His outstanding attitude has made the greatest difference at the highest level. Even if he is almost unable to do something, Johnson will do it for you anyhow. When Johnson enters the ring, all people will sit up. He truly is a king!”. Johnson is currently ranked number one in the WBFSh sire rankings. Performance – Johnson competed successfully at top level for several seasons, and was outstanding as a young horse before embarking on his international career. He finished 9th for the Dutch at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and was the Dutch star at the 2015 European Championships; spear-heading the gold-medal-winning team and taking home an individual bronze in the grand prix special. He was also on the Dutch team at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, never scoring below 74% and helping to secure the team bronze. Johnson was overall champion of the KWPN stallion show in 2005, top ranked in the stallion series 2006-07, and 6th in the World Young Horse Championships in Verden in 2007 as a five-year-old. Sire – Johnson is a son of the keur stallion Jazz. Jazz himself performed at grand prix level with his rider Tineke Bartels, as did grandsire, Cocktail, and has 50 licensed sons, including Olivi, T-Movistar, Wynton, Westpoint, Boston, Chagall, Don Olymbrio, Don Juan De Hus, Desperado and First Choice. Almost 100 Jazz offspring have reached grand prix, and he is currently ranked fifth on the WBFSH Sire Rankings, having led the rankings for four years (2008-2011) and having never been out of the top five since the current rankings began; a more successful record than any other stallion. Damline – Damsire Flemmingh, a jumper himself, adds plenty of athleticism and is famous for producing the grand prix dressage horses and super-sires Krack C and Lingh. When mixed with Jazz blood on the damline, Krack C has produced the stallions Vivaldi and Zhivago, with the reverse cross giving us Don Juan De Hus. Johnson’s third sire Sultan is not only the sire of the Oldenburg approved stallion Sion, but also of the world-famous jumper It’s Otto (ridden by Geoff Billington). Johnson descends from the famous ‘Reina’ line; the renowned mare line from breeder Wim van Arkel. Famous horses from this motherline are: Darkdream, Sultan, Kallisto, Mendel, Charmeur and Waldo. Progeny – Johnson’s offspring are very impressive. Often more blood in type than their sire, they all inherit his fantastic, easy temperament and willingness. He is the sire of Bretton Woods, hailed as the “new Totilas” in Holland, Jack Jones, and more than 25 other licensed sons in a relatively limited breeding career. In autumn 2012 the Johnson x Wolkentanz II stallion Jack Sparrow was run-away favourite in the four-year-old stallion series. Several of his offspring are now competing at grand prix and Johnson is carving a reputation as an outstanding sire.
